Not all televisions are created equally. This has been proven far too many times. There are some that would always be below par and some that would be above the known standards. Samsung is a known brand when it comes to televisions. Their products usually have the sharpest and clearest images.

No wonder they are very popular and the brand is very well respected. I’m the type of person who wants my TV and the images on it to be really nice. I am the type of person who is willing to shell out money as long as I get what I pay for. I always look for value and I’m quite the rest of you also are.

The Samsung UN55B8000 55-Inch 1080p 240 Hz LED HDTV will surely give value for your money and that is something I really like. This is the one of the new offerings from Samsung. Read on to find out more about it.

This particular TV has garnered a very good rating from CNET. If you don’t know yet CNET is a very popular and very reliable reviewer of electronics and gadgets. They gave it a “Very Good” rating, 3.5 starts out of 5. Coming from CNET this is a very good thing. Although it didn’t get a perfect rating (there are also downsides to the TV), you can be sure it has a lot of really good points.

Upsides

  • Slim and doesn’t occupy a lot of space. This is a very good thing especially for those who live in an apartment or for people who live in the city where space is a very big commodity. The TV will fit in any room and because of its slim design it is very pleasing to the eyes. It has a very sleek style and the panel is just about 1-2 inches thick. Say bye bye to TVs will very bulky backs. It only weighs about 60 pounds so it considerably lighter than most TVs. It really looks like a picture frame mounted on the wall.
  • Produces deep black levels and amazing picture quality. The images on the TV come very much alive. The pictures are really amazing you cannot even tell that you’re looking at the TV and not at the real thing. There is bright color and great contrast.
  • Internet Access. This is very helpful and you can get this feature provided that you have internet connection of course. The Internet@TV online feature lets you access Yahoo!, YouTube, Flickr and others thru the broadband connection.
  • Lots of Inputs. It’s never a bad thing to have a lot of these, especially with our technology today. It has 4 HDMI ports, 2USB ports, 1 Ethernet port, 1 PC, 1 component and 1 optical digital audio output. That’s a lot but if you’re somebody who connects your PC, Xbox, PlayStation and audio device then you’ll never fall short with this TV.

Downsides

  • Widgets are very slow to come up. The widgets take a very long time to come up and it is quite difficult to browse using the remote. But if you’re just into watching TV and playing games then this shouldn’t have a very great effect on you.
  • Expensive. This retails for about $3,799.00, and yes that makes the TV expensive indeed.
  • Very shiny screen. The screen is overly shiny and because of this it can cause reflections in bright rooms distorting the view.
  • Poor off angle view. There are some TVs that adjust themselves automatically so no matter you are sitting you’ll get the very best view. Sadly, this TV is not one of them

So many people and so many companies can review this TV and say whatever they want about it but ultimately it is you, the consumer, who will decide if you will purchase it or not.
