The founder of Panasonic is Konosuke Matshushita. He founded Matshushita Electric Housewares Manufacturing Works in 1918. Panasonic is a company with a vision of creating things of value to their customers. It was once a fledgling company but now it has become a giant in the world of electronics today.

Panasonic offers a lot of electronic products. From mobile phones, house phones, POS systems, projector, notebook PCS to TVs. You name it and they have it. The company has really grown a lot over the years. Television sets, are one of the main focus of the company in their products.

The Panasonic VIERA TC-P50G25 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV is just one of the companies many offerings. Let us find out exactly what it has to offer.

Upsides

  • Viera CastTM. This lets you access a myriad of Internet services from the Home screen. You can access YouTube, and Picasa Web Albums. This, however, requires a broadband internet connection. Dial up connection will not suffice. You can stream videos, TV shows, music, photo slideshows, and home video conferencing. Skype is also added, this will allow you to connect and communicate through video calls without having to go out of your house.
  • NeoPDP technology. Panasonic has achieved this by redesigning the Plasma panel’s cell structure and developing a new filter. This provides the best balance of black and white even in bright environments. This reduces reflections to a minimum. It creates sharper pictures with higher contrast in brighter environments. Stunning pictures are produced while utilizing minimum power.
  • Game mode. This lets you enjoy quicker image response. Dark images are produced more clearly so you’ll enjoy your video games and sit for hours in front of the TV playing your favorite games.
  • Viera Image Viewer. You can now view full HD images with the TVs integrated SD card slot. You can view photos in JPEG format and AVCHD videos captured from your own video camera or camcorder on your big screen. You won’t have any difficulties navigating through the thumbnail display. You can choose from an array of background music as well as display effects. Messages and memos can also be added to photos from your PC so that your slideshow will include important bits of information.
  • Lots of choices. This TV is more than the regular TV. It offers more and lets you do more. It includes 2 USB ports which allow you to connect a keyboard or a WI-FI LAN adapter, this is sold separately. There is also an Ethernet port for wired LAN connection which requires no PC at all.

Downsides

  • Viera CastTM is not easy to operate. Although this added content is very helpful many customer find it very difficult to use. It is not user friendly at all. It seems that the company’s customer service or repair service is also not that helpful. Consumers have complained of being bounced back from one department to another and this can be very annoying and frustrating if you know what I mean.
  • Bad customer service. Yes, this is not an issue with the TV but an issue with the company which manufactured the TV but still this is a major player with how the customer feels about the product. Several customers have complained that customer service at Panasonic is just downright awful and several have sworn that they will never buy another Panasonic TV again. Calling the company, this is something that you should definitely improve if you want to retain your customers

Judging by the upsides and downsides of this TV you will see that there are still more things to enjoy than loathe with this TV. It actually has very good features save for the customer service and online content issue.
