If you’re looking for a not-so-pricey television that delivers optimum viewing experience without eating a whole clean through your wallet, the Samsung UN55ES7500 is one of the newest and affordable televisions today. Boasting an impressive flat-screen full-color display, the Samsung UN55ES7500 is one home entertainment theater system you shouldn’t overlook if you’re after value but don’t want to sacrifice high-definition viewing. While the race to make TVs and appliances thinner and more aesthetic, the UN55ES7500 isn’t all about external looks. With the Samsung brand name you’re guaranteed only the best kind of technology and refinement that has made their products a hallmark of electronic excellence for many years.

The Pros:

• Sleek design – the Samsung UN 55ES7500’s sleek design works well with most modern furnishings, and because it is discreet and unassuming, it doesn’t feel out of place in formal or subdued settings.

• Smart Interaction – with its built-in motion detector and voice-recognition, you can do away with remote controls, with just the flick of a hand or a voice command, you can instantly turn on your TV.

• Power Savings and Quality Value – its sleek design isn’t just for show. The Samsung UN55ES7500 is also great for those thrifty folks who don’t want to skip their favorite shows by trying to save electricity.

The Cons:

• Needs More Wow Factor – although the UN55ES7500 is indeed stunning in its clarity and sound, it is a tad lacking in comparison to the other Samsung models out there. While having a commendable surround sound it lacks external speakers.

• Must Come in Sets – Samsung could’ve made the UN55ES7500 into a full-set and not just a drool-worthy TV set that it is. This could have been the holy grail of cheap TVs.

The Cabinet Design

At 0.2-inches thin, the Samsung UN55ES7500 is one stunning paradigm of technological elegance and futuristic design that bests many other flat screen TVs in the market today. Looking at it from afar is like looking out of a very classically mounted frame, and with its nearly borderless design, it is easily at home with all the other futuristic gadgetry that you have about your home. If you’re veering towards the more sophisticated yet classical appliances, the ultra-minimalist design that Samsung offers will compliment even the most somber of your décor. Ambience wise, the UN55ES7500 has a ready micro-dimming and local dimming feature which mixes in easily with the much-cultivated and sought for low key lighting that is so common in posh homes and interiors these days.

With its edge-lit LED backlight, you will find yourself drowning in the sheer elegance of your new Samsung TV once the lights are off. Whether mounted on your wall or on its impressive stand, the UN55ES7500 is more than just a home appliance – it is a one of a kind artistic expression that combines the best of modern technology with the subdued flair of modern aesthetics.

Screen Specs Galore

The Samsung UN55ES7500 is one of the most beautiful examples of a flat screen TV that you will find anywhere today. With its sleek 0.2 inch-thin screen overall, you could be looking at a picture frame for all you know! This size shouldn’t fool you into thinking that it gives off less-than-perfect image. For all of its sleekness it delivers jaw-dropping high-definition adding to the entertainment value of the shows you chose to watch, and displays such clarity and vibrancy that you’d never want to settle for anything less. The UN55E7500 is among the most affordable in the Samsung flat screen series, and it’s definitely your best bet if you’re after affordability but don’t want to cut corners with quality.

Setup

With its minimalist design, the Samsung UN55ES7500 is very easy to set up, with minimal external wiring to fret about. Connecting it to other appliances such as DVD players or a TiVo is made easier by readily available and discreetly hidden ports on the back of the TV, which helps to maintain the sleek uncluttered design.

Picture

While it isn’t one of the top Samsung models, it does dish out eye-popping goodness, making the Samsung UN55ES7500 the best quality TV set that you can get at a very affordable price. While there may be occasional glare and a slight lack of sharpness in the details it projects, it still is considered a top-notch LED TV without being too pricey for a family’s budget.

Sound

The built-in speakers of the Samsung UN55ES7500 may not be as sharp as some other TV models come with, although it lacks the reverb and bass that some external speakers have, it does have a note-worthy surround-sound to it. This does make up for the clarity of the sound and its ability to project a true sound without any additional static or off-effects.

Energy

Because of its unassuming size and sleek design, the Samsung UN55ES7500 is a great TV set if you’re looking at keeping energy costs down. With a pre-built dimming mode and automated shutdown, you will surely get to save with it!

Additional Features

The Samsung UN55ES7500 has a nifty built-in camera that not only acts as a normal camera but also as a motion detector that can sense human activity and accepts gesture commands, and has a speakerphone for the voice recognition. The TV set also comes with a pair of 3D glasses for those of you who are into 3D entertainment.

To Sum Up

Overall, the Samsung UN55ES7500 LED TV is a good buy for anyone looking for a well rounded TV that likes to watch high-definition programs or likes to play video games. Also, because of its many new features, like motion sensing gesture commands and audio recognitions, anyone will find it a friendly and appealing. The Samsung flat screen TV will also appeal to those who like the futuristic look and nearly invisible clutter free power cords, which allows for it to blend into any room in the house.

Why buy the Samsung UN55ES7500 LED TV? The Samsung TV is very easy to set up, not only is it easy for teens, but for adults too. With minimal external wiring to fret about and a slim streamline light weight design, the TV can easily fit in any room in the home, whether mounted on the wall or set on its futuristic stand.

As 3D technology continues to take off, it is starting to become more affordable for home users. As the consumer market heats up, one can expect a flood of new 3D-capable televisions and devices. Samsung is one of the first to jump into the pool with the LED-based Samsung UN55ES8000, a 55-inch beauty of a television with plenty of features and some newer technology that had not been previously introduced by Samsung. It is considered a smart television, meaning it has built-in features that mimic a smartphone. Those who love to talk, chat, message or surf the web as they watch television may find their ultimate all-in-one device in the UN55ES8000.

Pros

- Voice Navigation allows use of voice to change channels and do other functions

- Built-in camera allows Skype and other video chat

- Apps can be downloaded to allow access to social networks

- New dimming technology allows for a clearer picture

Cons

- Not Energy Star Compliant

- Small bump at top of bezel for camera may bother some

Cabinet Build and Design

The Samsung UN55ES8000 has a bezel that is a mere 0.2 inches thick, which is ultra-thin for a TV that has this many features on it. The top does have a slight bulge because of the built-in camera and speakerphone that is a part of the added features. This is a little quirky but not bothersome unless you require your bezel to be completely uniform and flat. While watching the screen you likely won’t notice it at all.

Another small quirk that some might really like is the stand. In the past, Samsung has used some pretty standard stands and legs on their televisions. For this model, they brought out a new U-shaped stand that is silver in color to match the bezel, which is barely visible when looking at the television from a distance because of how thin it is.

Screen

This is a fairly basic rectangular shape that is billed as being 55 inches across but is actually 54.6 inches to be exact from corner to corner. It has a depth of a mere 1.2 inches, making it one of the slimmer televisions on the market. The TV is also 30 inches high when you include the stand. In terms of width, it is 48.4 inches including the stand.

The same model will also come in a smaller 46-inch version along with several larger versions up to a whopping 75 inches. With all of these sizes, Samsung intends to make the ES800 line the flagship of their 3D-capable lineup. That is, of course, until the next upgrade in technology comes around and a new line has to be built as more and more consumers jump on the 3D bandwagon.

Setup

The setup for the Samsung UN55ES8000 is fairly easy if you have experience setting up televisions in the past. It features Dolby Digital Output, 3 HDMI inputs, 3 USB inputs and 2 composite video inputs.

The set also has a wireless LAN built into it for connecting to the Internet. You must have a wireless network already set up in your house. Once the built-in LAN finds your network, you must input the network password and it should instantly connect, enabling the numerous smart features that come with the set.

Picture

With 1080p on board, the Samsung UN55ES8000 has a clear HD picture that will pick up even the more nuanced of colors. It has a refresh rate of 240Hz to go along with the “ultimate” local dimming. This dimming technology is new to Samsung and on the market in general. In the past, Samsung had used micro-dimming plus, which proved problematic on the edges of the screen. They have solved that with this model by using local dimming, which divides the television into multiple dimming zones. Each zone can be dimmed independently of all other zones which makes for a truer picture and color. It is 3D capable and even comes with two pairs of glasses to get you started.

Sound

The Samsung UN55ES8000 comes with an optical digital audio output. This provides rich and layered sound, but those who want more can hook the TV up to their own speakers for better output. Though the sound is good, the real focus of this television is more on the 3D and smart capabilities rather than speakers or sound. That is not to say that Samsung completely ignored the sound, it is just not the main gem of this particular model.

Energy

The UN55ES8000 is not Energy Star compliant.

Additional Features

This is a smart television that uses Smart Hub. This means viewers can search for content across vudu, Hulu Plus, YouTube and more. Apps can be downloaded to allow access to social networks like Facebook and Twitter. There is a full web browser as well with the built-in camera allowing you to video chat via Skype and other services. Voice Navigation allows you to use words to command the TV instead of using the remote, which is a touchpad. There is also facial recognition that allows logging into apps without using a password. Gesture control allows you to control the volume and channel surf using hand gestures instead of the remote or your voice.

The UN55ES8000 is for consumers who want to interact as they watch TV without using an additional device. No tablets or smartphones are needed since the TV already has Internet access, a web browser, apps and even a built-in web cam for video chat. With voice and gesture technology, it almost renders the remote control obsolete, although there is a touchscreen remote included. The 3D capability and full HD quality picture completes the package, making this a great marriage of tablet computer and television.

Consumers may find the price tag a bit hefty, but when you consider that it will replace many devices in your home, it suddenly becomes much more affordable. In an age of smartphone data caps and throttling, there is no need to use precious data to interact and surf the web as you watch television, which save you money. There is also no need for a tablet computer or netbook to use the Internet while watching TV since the Samsung UN55ES8000 takes care of all these needs and more.

Pros

Excellent value for money – especially for a full HD, 50 inch TV by Panasonic!

Solid and secure

Wonderful viewing experience

Crisp colours – deep blacks and good all-round visuals

Superb for playing games

Beautiful looking TV

Cons

Those who are pernickety about such things might worry that it’s a 720p, not 1080p.

If you get too close (like about a foot or nearer), the picture goes all grainy.

Speakers are more than adequate but audio aficionados might still prefer to plug into an external speaker system.

Product features

49.9 inch HD plasma display

1024 x 768p native resolution

600 Hz sub field drive

HDTV capability – 1080p, 1080i and 720p

2 x full range surround sound 20w total power integral speakers

Image viewer

2 x USB 2.0 ports

Wi-Fi ready

Weights 69.5 lbs.

Who is this for?

Listen up. If you want the big screen, HD experience but don’t want or have the means to shell out the big bucks for a top quality manufacturer, then the Panasonic VIERA TC-P50X3 50-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV is the answer. The reason for this being so much of a lower price than many other, seemingly comparable TVs, is the simple fact that it’s 720p, not 1080p. But – and this is a valid point – even if you pay out the extra for a 1080p TV most of your viewing is not done in true 1080p content. This is why most people wouldn’t notice any difference at all in their viewing experience. So if you’re the sort of person who goes by the actual performance, rather than what the performance looks like on paper, then the Panasonic VIERA TC-P50X3 50-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV is certainly going to float your boat – in more ways than one.

Why is this worth buying?

Have you not seen the price? I mean, come on, a Panasonic for this price – and of this screen size with internet TV capability is simply a steal. You simply can’t do better for your money anywhere right now. So if the family have been bugging you for some time now to spend your hard earned cash on a big mother of a TV, then consider the Panasonic VIERA TC-P50X3 50-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV. You sure won’t be sorry!

Persistent eye-popping details are abounding on the Toshiba 46G310U 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV. The heart of the TV is its Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp which merges light with the liquid crystals to manipulate the dazzling display of images dancing across the screen to the delight of viewers. The internal speakers are invisibly integrated into the set’s overall design giving it a very sleek and uniform appearance. Prices begin at an affordable groundbreaking $480 launching skyward to a rocketing $875.

The Pros

• Can be used as a computer monitor in hooking it up to a laptop or desktop PC.
• Four screws instead of the standard two securely attach the base to the bottom of the set.
• Several convenient HDMI ports allow for home theater hook up, DVD player, viewing slideshows from laptops with the high resolution PC connection or other auxiliary equipment.
• More pixels at 1080p lends for fabulous high definition picture quality similar to more expensive name brands.
• Automatically adjusts the back lighting to balance the light and dark in each video frame displayed thanks to the DynaLight technology feature.
• Adjustable refresh rate can be reduced from 120 Hz to 60 Hz to minimize blurring that is created by faster moving images. This reduction slows images down for better viewing pleasure.
• Side USB port for viewing saved video and pictures on the TV. Can also watch home movies or videos from the Internet onto a USB device.
• Native resolution feature automatically adjusts the screen’s scaling display size based on incoming signal.
• Programmable remote control.

The Cons

• Takes anywhere from 15 to 45 seconds to warm start and power up.
• Remote control has a limited distance range of only a few feet and the IR sensor sometimes fails to respond to its commands.
• Inferior sound quality. Bass sounds do not audibly register very well and sound tinny. Static and fuzzy sounds occur at certain noise level frequencies.
• The TV stand is static and does not swivel back and forth forcing the owner to turn the entire TV set. It also lacks the necessary weight due to the flimsy plastic to prevent accidental tipping.
• Resets aspect ration settings every time the channel is changed so you have to change it back to your preference setting with every channel change.
• Power cord is not detachable and is permanently integrated into the TV causing other cables to easily entangle on it.
• The digital audio output connection is the only way to hook up a surround sound system.
• The set is not Wi-fi or Internet capable.
• Comes with a set up sheet and not the traditional user manual booklet. Print on the sheet is tiny making it exceptionally hard to read.

Who Should Buy It?

Gaming buffs will set traps to snare this TV set solely for themselves. Screen blurs are virtually eliminated by the ClearFrame 120 Hz feature making it ideal for fast action, high speed video game playing. Movie lovers will love the wondrously crisp picture advantage. Hidden details not previously seen will manifest before a viewer’s eyes in absolutely crystal clear on images even down to the stitches on a character’s clothing.

Why Buy It?

No more is there a need to bust the budget to afford a television with superior image displays. The picture quality alone is well worth the sticker price regardless of the TV being a rather basic unit in its manual image adjustment options. Flat panel televisions are not renowned for spewing out fantastic sound, but having a great picture was sacrificed for sound quality in this particular set. One cannot go wrong in the purchasing Toshiba 46G310U 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV with its stunning qualities of visual experience.
